Electric field gradients a 177Hf nuclei in lutetium compounds

Description

The present work reports measurements of the γ-γ angular correlation of the 208.3-113 keV cascade in 177Hf in solid lutetium compounds and in dilute solution of LuCl3. From the measured attenuation factors for the solid compounds with respect to the liquid source, the coupling constants for quadrupole interaction have been calculated. Taking the quadrupole moment and the halflife of the intermediate level from earlier measurements the EFG at the 177Hf nuclei in the above solids have been evaluated. (orig./WL)
