Radioimmunoassay of renin and the values of PRA in normal Indian subjects
- 1. Post-Graduate Inst. of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh (India)
Description
A double antibody radioimmunoassay of Plasma Renin Activity (PRA) has been standardised. Using this method, basal PRA was measured in 30 normal subjects. The assay was highly reproducible with sensitivity limits of 0.05 ng to 10 ng AI/100 ul. Inter and intra-assay coefficient of variation did not exceed 10 percent and 8 percent respectively. Purification of tracer on CG-400 anion exchange resin and on sephadex G-10 gave similar results. Double antibody binding method and the commonly used charcoal method gave similar separation of bound and free tracer. The basal levels of PRA ranged between 0.187 to 1.65 with a mean value 0.7898 +- 0.698 ng/ml/hr. (auth.)
