Tabulation of parameters to account for photoelectron elastic scattering in solids

Description
Values of a=1-ω, where ω is the single scattering albedo which characterizes the electron scattering properties, are determined for 54 elements based on Monte-Carlo calculations and on calculation of the transport cross section. The sensitivity of calculated XPS intensities to the a values is analysed. The a values show periodic changes in accordance with the Periodic Table. They also correlate with inelastic scattering cross sections and some other properties with similar dependence on the number and nature of valence electrons.
