Perfluoroalkyl tellurium compounds: exchange reactions of (CF3)2TeX2 (X=F,Cl,Br) with halogens, dinitrogen pentoxide, and trifluoroacetic anhydride; preparation and properties of (CF3)2Te(ONO2)2 and (CF3)2Te(OCOCF3)2

Description

Some halogen exchange reactions of bis(trifluoromethyl) tellurium dihalides (CF3)2TeX2 (X=F,Cl,Br) are described. From the reactions of (CF3)2TeX2 (X=Cl,Br) with an excess of NaF the difluoride (CF3)2TeF2 is formed as the main product. With an excess of chlorine (CF3)2TeX2 (X=F,Br) react to (CF3)2TeCl2, with an excess of bromine (CF3)2TeX2 (X=F,Cl) react to (CF3)2TeBr2; from these reactions also CF3TeCl3 and CF3TeBr3 are formed. During the reactions of (CF3)2TeX2 (X=F,Cl,Br) with an excess of iodine only the decomposition products CF3I and TeI4 are detected. With trifluoroacetic anhydride or dinitrogen pentoxide (CF3)2TeX2 forms the new derivatives (CF3)2Te(OCOCF3)2 and (CF3)2Te(ONO2)2. The 19F, 13C and 125Te n.m.r. spectra, the vibrational and mass spectra and the properties of these new compounds are described. (author)
