UV-VIS spectrophotometry method for the determination of titanium and aluminum in zirconyl chloride

Description

Analysis of Ti and Al in zirconyl chloride (ZrOCI2.8 H20) with a spectrophotometric method has been studied. Analysis of Ti based on the formation of a yellow complex from the reaction of Ti (IV) with H2O2 in sulfuric acid solution. Studied the influence of zirconium, the determination of detection limits, precision and accuracy test. Spectrophotometric analysis of Ti obtained optimum conditions: wavelength (A) 400 nm, while the stability of complexes is 5-15 minutes, the concentration of complexing H2O2 is 0.3%, sulfuric acid concentrations is 1.0 M, the detection limit is 0.103 µg/mL. Standard curve was linear in the range of concentrations from 1.0 to 30.0 µ/mL with r = 0.999. Zirconium with 20 times concentration of Ti is interference. Content of Ti in ZrOCl2. 8 H2O obtained average 0.0048 ± 0.0002%. Testing precision of Ti with coefficient variation is 4.8% and accuracy is 91.4%. Analysis of AI obtained optimum conditions are : λ 536 nm, stable complexes is 7-10 minutes, the concentration of eriokrom cyanine is 3,73.10-5 M, ascorbic acid 0.02%. Standard curve AI with the range concentrations of 10-50 ng/mL is linear with r = 0.999. Zirconium with a concentration of 10 time is not interference. Samples solution in 0.5 M H2SO4, extracted with 30% trioctylamine-kerosene, water phase was analyzed. Contents of AI in ZrOCI2. 8 H20 local products obtained average 0.0030 ± 0.0001%. The precision is 2.48% and accuracy is 89.3%. (author)
