Description
This paper addresses the bunching of intense beams containing two ion species, N+ and N2+, which are simultaneously transported through a periodic focusing transport channel. Both types of ions have a kinetic energy of 40 keV. Time resolved measurements of the total current are presented and compared with numerical results specifying the different ion species. These are obtained with a one-dimensional computer code in which space charge effects are taken into account. (orig.)
