Neutrino-hydrogen interactions in BEBC

  • 1. European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva (Switzerland)

Description

New results are presented on the analysis of neutrino-proton interactions in the BEBC bubble chamber filled with hydrogen and exposed to the CERN wideband neutrino beam. The ratio of neutral current to charged current cross sections is determined. By comparison with results with an isoscalar target the coupling constants of the hadronic neutral currents are found. Their value is in agreement with the standard SU(2) x U(1) model and a value of sin2thetasub(w)=0.19 is found. Fragmentation functions are studied and compared with QCD predictions. A value of the energy scale parameter Λ, is obtained which is consistent with that determined from structure function analysis. The hadronic multiplicity distribution for charged current events is found to resemble that for anti-pp annihilations but to be different from those for hadron-hadron collisions
