Sodium interaction with concrete and firebrick
Description
A knowledge of the reactions of liquid sodium with construction materials of fast nuclear reactors is important in safety analyses. Twelve large-scale experiments (up to 250 Kg Na into 4000 Kg crucibles) have been performed. Energetic exothermic reactions were produced in eight of these experiments. A chemical model is presented to describe these reactions. 3 refs
