Description

Prerequisites, realization conditions and efficiency of Moessbauer nucleus activation at the expense of direct Coulomb excitation of the nuclei under their interaction with fast electrons of hot laser plasma, produced under an intense laser pulse focusing on the target surface are considered. An interval of nucleus charge and energy of the excited gamma transition, for which the indicated activation mechanism is efficient, is determined. It is shown, that production of point, linear and other sources with the activity from 1010 Ci (for short-lived isotopes) to 3 μ Ci (for long-lived transitions of the higher multipolarity) is possible using the Coulomb excitation, initiated by a laser pulse. It is shown that the efficiency of laser pulse initiated Coulomb excitation for the higher multipolarity transitions exceeds the efficiency of photoexcitation from the same laser focus by a lot of orders
