Estimation of microgram amounts of uranium in thorium by ICP-AES (Reprint No. RA.17)
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Fuel Reprocessing Div.
Description
A spectrometric method has been standardised for the estimation of microgram amounts of uranium in thorium matrix without any separation of pre-treatment of the process samples. The paper describes the analytical support in the process development studies being carried out using solvent extraction technique with natural uranium and thorium. The method is to be adopted for the separation of 233U by processing irradiated thorium. A very high resolution spectrometer (with a practical resolution of 0.008 nm) and inductively coupled argon plasma (ICP) source have been employed. Details of detection limit, wavelengths used, etc. are given. (author). 1 tabs
