Assistance to the fuel maintenance operations in fast neutron reactors

Description

The expert system developed for assisting the fuel maintenance operations in fast neutron reactors is presented. The expert system, implemented in the Phenix reactor, performs the analysis and interpretation of data provided by the control systems. Two types of assistance are possible: a system for interpreting the data from ultrasonic images (VISUS-PLUS) and another for the visualisation of the effort involved in the removal and replacement of the fuel. The experiment proved that the maintenance assistance improves the conditions of the reactor operation

Abstract (French)

Le systeme expert concu pour aider les operations de manutention du combustible, sur les reacteurs a neutrons rapides, est presente. Le systeme en cours d'implantation sur le reacteur Phenix, est charge de la mise en forme et de l'interpretation de l'ensemble d'informations fournies par les systemes de controle. Les aides apportees sont de deux types: un systeme d'interpretation d'images par ultrasons (VISUS-PLUS) et un systeme de visualisation des efforts d'extraction et d'introduction du combustible. L'experience montre que ces aides conduisent a une amelioration des conditions de securite dans le fonctionnement du reacteur
