Magnetic properties of Heusler alloys

  • 1. Tohoku Gakuin University, Faculty of Engineering, Tagajo, Miyagi (Japan)

Description

The magnetic properties, especially the magnetic momentum and magnetic transition temperature, of X2MnZ (X=3d, 4d and 5d metal, Z=s and p element), Co2YZ (Y==3d, 4d and 5d metal, Z=s and p element) and Fe2VZ (Z=Al, Ga and Si) are explained. 3d state of X2MnZ alloy is non-localized and a few spins excluded from 3d shell of Mn generated the localized property of magnetic momentum of Mn. The magnetic properties of X2MnZ (X=Co and Ni) are determined by interaction between adjacent Co-Mn and Ni-Mn. The exchange interaction of X2MnZ and Co2YZ is discussed on the bases of their experimental results of magnetic properties under the high pressure. (S.Y.)
