Medical application stations at PF, PF-AR

Description
Medical images with higher spatial-resolution and clearer contrast can be obtained by using monochromatic X-rays from synchrotron radiation sources, compared with those by conventional X-ray imaging. At PF and PF-AR, studies on image diagnosis are underway, and at the beamline PF-AR NE1A2, clinical applications for coronary diagnostic are progressing under the collaboration by Tsukuba University and the Institute of Materials Structure Science, KEK. The experimental station BL14C1 using the synchrotron radiation from an insertion device (vertical bending magnet) at PF, the experimental station NE5A using the synchrotron radiation from a bending magnet of PF-AR and the experimental station NE1A2 using the synchrotron radiation from the insertion device (multi-pole wiggler) at PF-AR are outlined.
