Thioglycolamic acid for actinide-lanthanide separation

  • 1. Fuel Chemistry Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

Bis(2-ethylhexyl)thiodiglycolamic acid (SHDEHDGA) was synthesized and studied for the extraction behavior of 241Am(III) and (152+154)Eu from nitric acid medium. This paper reports the results of the effect of various parameters such as the concentration of SHDEHDGA, pH and the nature of diluent on the separation factor (SF) of americium over europium.
