Developments in polymer degradation - v. 6
Description
Four general areas of current (1985) interest are covered in this volume - products of degradation, degradative agencies, characterization and the influence of the physical environment. Chapter 1 is a review of the evolution of hydrogen fluoride from fluorine-containing elastomers. Chapter 2, on the radiation degradation of sulphones, starts at fundamental research and goes through to the practical applications in microelectronic technology. This chapter is indexed separately. Chapter 3 considers the hydrolysis of a variety of polymers. A new technique for the analyses of oxidised structures in polyolefines is described in chapter 4. In chapter 5, recent work associated with the search for labile structures which cause instability in polyvinyl chloride is discussed. In chapter 6 it is shown how the rate of photo-oxidation may be influenced by the viscosity of the system. In the final chapter it is demonstrated how stress may influence the rates of ageing processes. (UK)
