Neutron spectrometer

Description

The invention is aimed at the increase of resolution ability and maximum preservation of aperture ratio of a time-of-flight neutron spectrometer. The aim is achieved by the following: in the device containing a pulse source of fast neutrons, a moderator, a neutron guide, a neutron breaker and a device for neutron recording, directly the retarder at the distance 20-100 times lower the flight base, an additional breaker of slow neutrons is installed, which is synchronized for separation of a short in time neutron pulse in the limits (1-10)x10-6 s. The invention use permits to considerably (up to 1 μs/m) improve the resolution of the known spectrometer, at that, the same parameters of aperture ratio which can be obtained when a more powerful (25 times) source is used, are obtained
