Description
The internal friction spectrum of deformed and/or neutron-irradiated high-purity iron is studied at a frequency of 0.5 Hz over the temperature range 4 to 470 K. It is found that the spectrum is very similar to those observed in other b.c.c. refractory metals. Thus, following the generally accepted classification of deformation peaks in b.c.c. metals, two peaks which originate from intrinsic dislocation relaxations are named α and γ; two other peaks arising from dislocation-point-defect interactions are called β1 and β2.
