Nondestructive x-ray diffraction method for quenching quality control in dispersion-hardened alloys

Description

In the present work the authors have developed an x-ray diffraction method for quality control of the quenching of alloys containing very low amounts of hardening phase. These diffraction line profiles have been practically impossible to record reliably. The proposed method is based on repeated alternating registration of the intensity of the maximum of one of the lines (the reflection) for the hardening phase and background, and subsequent statistical analysis of the data obtained. This technique can be used in optimizing the heat treatment production process. 8 refs., 1 tab
