Transition densities of isovector multipole resonances

  • 1. Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute, USSR Academy of Sciences

Description

Isovector electric multipole (L = 0, 1, and 2) resonances with and without charge exchange are examined in the framework of a self-consistent HF+RPA theory with the Skyrme Sk M' interaction. The continuous spectrum is taken into account exactly while the admixture of complex configurations is included in a phenomenological way. We calculate the strength functions, energies, reduced probabilities, and transition densities for the main resonances in the nuclei 40Ca, 48Ca, 90Zr, 120Sn, and 208Pb. The analysis reveals the similarity of the transition densities in different charge states, change of the oscillation type with L, and coexistence of the surface and volume modes for the dipole resonances
