Photoresonance plasma production by excimer lasers as a technique for anode-plasma formation

Description

Occasional coincidences between resonance-line wavelengths of many elements and generation bands of robust excimer lasers provide the opportunity to create a new kind of near-surface dense-plasma source. A brief review of the work on plasma production by intense resonant laser radiation is given. The consequences of the development of anode plasma sources for light- and heavy-ion accelerators are briefly discussed. (orig.)
