On the entropy of self-gravitating systems

  • 1. Leningrad State Univ. (USSR)

Description

On the basis of the phenomenological thermodynamics of open systems in the framework of the field theory of gravitation the maximal possible flux of entropy of a self-gravitating system is estimated to be deS/dt ∼ k/h Me2, and the absolute amount of the entropy by which the entropy of the external world can be raised in a collapse process is estimated at ΔeS ∼ kG/hc M2. These relations, in contrast to the Bekenstein-Hawking formula for the entropy of a black hole in the general theory of relativity, are obtained by a limiting process from the Newtonian thermodynamics of classical self-gravitating systems
