Quasieleastic A (e,e'p) at high momentum transfer

Creators

Description

The differential cross sections for quasielastic (e,e'p) scattering on D, C, Fe and Au were measured at SLAC for Q2 = 1, 3, 5, and 6.8 GeV2. The nuclear transparency of each target was extracted from the cross section data as a function of Q2. A Monte Carlo simulation of the experiment modelling proton final state interactions with onshell nucleon-nucleon elastic and inelastic scattering was used to predict values of the nuclear transparency. The theory of Color Transparency, a possible high Q2 suppression of the proton final state interactions, would predict an increase in the nuclear transparency with increasing Q2. The data and Monte Carlo results will be compared to theoretical predictions of the transparency with and without color transparency effects
