Regulatory inspection practices for chemical and fire safety
Creators
Description
World over industry was expanding greatly, booming ahead into new fields and into new and unimagined production, but they were often inferior to their predecessors in what they afforded in terms of human values - contentment, health and physical safety. This was not the result of management villainy. It was probably inevitable. The tools of mass production had to be invented and applied before anyone could begin to imagine the problems they would create, and the problems had to be known before corrective measures could be considered, tested and proved. The work carried out at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre as a major research organization in India, includes activities related to nuclear programme which comprises all core engineering and scientific activities along with nuclear engineering and nuclear science activities. The unit is having fuel production facility, research reactors, fuel reprocessing units, waste management, various hi-tech engineering and science laboratories, pilot plants, utility services including centralised flammable material store and admin building spreading over an area of around two thousand acres. The inspections are conducted to assess the performance of facility personnel, the conditions of systems and equipment, the quality of programmes and procedures and effectiveness of plant manager
