Gross structural discontinuity effect for stress distribution in bottom beltline joint and wall transition RPV

Description

Analysis of gross structural discontinuity effect for stress distribution on transition wall and joint of bottom beltline pressure vessel reactor have been carried out. Analysis were performed using finite element method by Marc Mentat 2010. For input stress in form internal pressure 20 MPa is given in the inner surface of model. From the result of analysis of both piece of model the highest stress occur in gross structural discontinuity node. For beltline joint, obtained maximum stress is 300 MPa and transition wall 150 MPa. The pattern of distribution of stress intensity gradually decrease with distance of gross structural discontinuity node. (author)
