Expansion of a collisionless plasma bunch into vacuum

Description
Ion acceleration due to vacuum expansion of a localized bunch of a collisionless plasma with a given electron distribution function in velocity is investigated. Self-similar solutions, describing the process within the frameworks of the quasi-neutral approximation, are presented. The obtained results may be used as a basis model for studying the vacuum expansion of an arbitrary plasma formation with known initial conditions
