Effect of high-temperature irradiation treatment on radiation stability of glass
- 1. Gosudarstvennyj Opticheskij Inst., Leningrad (USSR)
Description
Effect of a high-temperature irradiation of tellurite glass (83TeO2x17K2O composition) on its optical properties in particular transparency is studied. A high-temperature irradiation was conducted at 300, 350 and 400 deg C in a channel of a gamma source of 3000 R/S radiation power. Glass samples were exposed during 15, 30 and 60 min. It is shown that, depending on a chosen temperature for irradiation treatment, the radiation stability of glass made under oxidizing conditions can either increase or decrease. The possibility of changing the basic spectroscopic properties of original glass by means of additional high-temperature irradiation was discovered
