Seasonal dynamics of phytoplankton photosynthetic pigments and changes of phytoplankton physiological state in lake Drukshiai - the cooler of Ignalina NPP in 1994
Description
The particular investigations on photosynthetic pigments in 1994 indicated lake Drukshiai as mesotrophic water basin. The amount of chlorophyll 'a' in the lake ranged from 0,69 to 8,38 mkg/l. High photosynthetic activity of chlorophyll 'a' was characteristic in spring and summer. Day assimilation number ranged from 29,7 to 164 mkgC/mkg chlorophyll 'a'. High amount of carotenoids was determined in biomass of phytoplankton, it ranged in lake Drukshiai from 0,97 to 17,43 mk SPU/l. Under operation of Ignalina NPP the physiological state of phytoplankton in the heated water outlet area has got worse, the amount and activity of photosynthetic pigments have decreased and the amount of pheopigments (chlorophyll 'a' destruction products) has increased.
