Description
The phase structure of the SU (3) adjoint Higgs model is studied by a Monte Carlo simulation. We report the results of the simulation carried out on a four-dimensional euclidean lattice of size 34 and 63 x 3. We find clear signals of the transition from a symmetric phase to broken ones. At finite temperature, the broken Higgs phase consists of three parts, i.e., the SU(2) x U(1)-confined phase, the U(1)-Coulomb and SU(2)-confined normal Higgs phase, and the finite temperature Higgs phase with SU(2) x U(1) Coulomb interacitons. We conjecture that the last one will disappear at zero temperature. The symmetric phase is divided into two by a deconfining transition. The deconfined symmetric phase will disappear at zero temperature. (author)
