Thermonuclear device
Description
Purpose: To increase the size of a metal liner plate for preventing the contaction between plasma and a vacuum container while making it ease to support. Constitution: A wave-form plate having waves in the poroidal direction is used as a liner. Since the electromotive force induced in the eddy current path in the liner is determined by the angle of the liner with the poroidal direction while the resistance in the eddy current path is determined by its length, the length of the path and thus the resistance thereof is increased by making the interval and the amplitude of the waves. As a result, since the electromagnetic force exerted on the liner is decreased, a large liner can be installed to facilitate the absorption of thermal expansion generated in the poroidal direction in the wave-form section. This enables a flexible design for the support structure since the support for the liner is not restricted only to the middle portion as usual. (Furukawa, Y.)
