How a chill-vent filter system could help public acceptance

Description

A NPP ventillation system with a chill-vent filter is described. It permits to eliminate pressure increase inside a containment shell in the case of maximum credible accident, with reactor core meltdown and release of coolants from the primary and secondary circuits into the shell. The filter, containing ice and gravel at a very low temperature, ensures effective purification of gaseous effluents to the atmosphere from radioactive contamination
