Pulse radiolysis investigations of charge transfer in alkane-alkene solutions

Description
From the decrease of the solvent radical cation absorption in cyclohexane and n-heptane by adding alkenes it is concluded that alkene radical cations are mainly formed by reaction with mobile holes in these solvents. Rate constants are given for some alkenes. From the concentration dependence of the absorption rise time, from its increase at low temperatures and from quantum chemical estimates, it is concluded that the R-bands should be attributed to dimer cations of alkenes. Rate constants of the dimerization reactions are also given. (author)
