The European X-ray facility (ESRF) and the VUV project at Orsay (SUPER ACO)
Description
The present status of the european synchrotron radiation facility (ESRF) is presented with emphasis to the design criteria. Since the beginning of the design studies, the main features of this project have evolved and the present option, called 'pluralistic', includes four types of synchrotron radiation sources: normal bending magnets, single wigglers, multiple wigglers and undulators. The european synchrotron radiation facility also includes an optimized Vacuum Ultraviolet storage ring which finally served as a model for the new Orsay Storage Ring (Super Aco) under construction now. A brief description of this machine is presented. (Author)

Apresenta-se a situacao atual da instalacao de Radiacao de Sincrotron europeia com enfase para o criterio de projeto. Desde o comeco dos estudos do projeto, as principais caracteristicas desse projeto evoluiram e a opcao atual, chamada 'pluralistica', inclui quatro tipos de fontes de radiacao de sincrotron: 'bending magnets' normais, 'wigglers' simples, 'wigglers' multiplos e onduladores. A instalacao de Radiacao Sincrotron europeia tambem inclui um anel de estocagem ultravioleta de vacuo otimizado que serviu finalmente como um modelo para o novo anel de estocagem de Orsay (Super Aco) em construcao agora.
