On the problems of measuring the velocity of sputtered excited atoms

Description
The discrepancy between the results for the velocity distribution of sputtered excited atoms as obtained by Doppler-Shift-Laser-Fluorescence-Spectroscopy (DSLFS) and Light-versus-Distance measurements (LvD) is discussed and explained by including cascade feeding from higher excited levels into the analysis of LvD data.
