Models, simulations, and measurements of EMI for electrical systems
Description
Modeling, simulations, and measurement techniques developed to investigate digital control equipment performance in the presence of repetitive fast transient EMI sources in high voltage electrical systems described by power plants and substations are reviewed. High frequency EMI waveforms and spectral amplitudes originating from normal, routine swithching of high voltage circuits as well as from the abnormal, infrequent events of circuit breaker faults and lightning strikes are described for high yard and critical control circuit environments. Some consequences of repetitive, high amplitude EMI at control circuit loads important to upset and failure modes in digital loads and their protective elements are discussed. 3 refs., 14 figs., 4 tabs
