Description

Issues of liquid metals application as promising coolants and tritium breeders for fusion reactor blankets are discussed. Major attention is given to MHD problems of liquid metal pumping through the strong magnetic field and the data base for calculations. Another prospect for liquid metals employment is considered in connection with the devices for plasma impurity control and first wall protection. Schematic design and device parameters examples are presented. The expected liquid metal employment impact on the fusion reactor characteristics is summarized. (author). 30 refs, 10 figs, 2 tabs
