Description
By using asymptotic flavor SUf(3) symmetry and the hadron-constraining equal-time commutators involving the electromagnetic current and the generators of underlying symmetry groups of QCD, the authors of this paper demonstrate approximate degeneracy of the masses of a1 (1260) and b1 (1235), without making any assumption about the structures of the 1 +- nonets. The presence of large mixing between the strange members of the 1++ and 1+- nonets is instrumental in deriving the close correlation between the two nonets. Comments are made on the identification of the I = O ninth members of the nonets
