Portable digital ratemeter and flowmeter type DGX-001

  • 1. Nuclear Engineering Department, National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering - Horia Hulubei, PO Box MG-6, RO - 76900 Bucharest - Magurele (Romania)

Description

The digital ratemeter of DGX-001 type is a portable device measuring the equivalent dose rate in the range 1 μSv/h - 2 Sv/h for X and gamma radiation within 10 keV - 3 MeV and beta radiation of energies higher than 100 keV. The broad measuring range (5 scales) makes it possible to use the device for both radiation protection measurements and the detection of contaminated zones in nuclear incidents and accidents. The ionization chamber used as radiation transducer is an independent device. The ratemeter can be employed in very different measuring geometries. For X and gamma measurements at energies higher than 100 keV, the ionization chamber is used with a sheath on. The chamber is used without a sheath for gamma measurements at energies lower than 100 keV and beta radiation measurements. The main features of the device are: - measuring range: 1 μSv/h - 2Sv/h; - energy range for X and gamma radiation: 10 keV - 3 MeV; energy range for beta radiation: > 100 keV; - response time: <8 s; - measuring error: ±20%; - supply voltage: 9 V battery or accumulators; - self-reliance: 240 h; - size: 335 mm x 130 mm x 295 mm; weight: max. 1.150 kg.
