Polarographic studies on the effect of increasing concentrations of some complex forming agents on the kinetics of the irreversible electrode reactions of Co(II), dioxouranium(VI), In(III) and Th(IV)

Description
The polarographic behaviour of Co(II), dioxouranium(VI), In(III) and Th(IV) has been studied at 25 degC in the presence of increasing concentrations of some complex forming agents, viz. sulphosalicylate (SSA2-), tartrate (Tart2-) and EDTA2-. The reduction of all the depolarizers has been found to be diffusion-controlled and irreversible. Koutecky's treatment has been applied to calculate the rate constant (ksub(f,h)) at various potentials in the presence of increasing concentrations of the ligands. The values of the kinetic parameters (αetasub(a) and ksub(f,h)) have been calculated as a function of the concentration of ligand. (author)
