Reduction of nuclear waste radiation

  • 1. Nuclear Research and consultancy Group NRG, Petten (Netherlands)

Description

A brief overview is given of the possibility to reduce the lifetime of long-living radioisotopes, i.e. actinides that live 250,000 years. The author's research group contributes to international research on the options to separate and transform (transmutation) actinides, focusing on which form the actinides can take to be re-used in a nuclear reactor and on the type of nuclear fission reactors for efficient fission of actinides
