Retrospective dose estimation of children
Description
The spontaneous frequency of dicentric chromosomes was studied in peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from 10 healthy children between 4 and 10 years of age. The determined rate of dicentric chromosomes is 0.1 x 10-3 and therefore clearly below the rate of 0.46 x 10-3 in healthy adult volunteers. Referring to the significantly elevated rate of dicentric chromosomes for a group of 5 children radiation exposure could be proven and will be discussed. (orig.)

Es wird der Kontrollwert dizentrischer Chromosomen vorgestellt, der aus den Blutproben 10 gesunder Kinder im Alter zwischen 4 und 10 Jahren ermittelt worden ist. Die festgestellte Rate von 0,1 x 10-3 dizentrischer Chromosomen liegt deutlich unter der fuer Erwachsene ermittelten Rate von 0,46 x 10-3. Der Nachweis einer Strahlenexposition auf Grundlage einer signifikant erhoehten Rate dizentrischer Chromosomen wird fuer ein Kollektiv, bestehend aus 5 Kindern, vorgestellt. (orig.)Additional details
