Diagnosis and management of incomplete ossification of the cuboidal bones in foals

Description

Radiographic examination of any newborn foal with an angular limb deformity should be performed within the first day of life, since rapid diagnosis and treatment of this condition is the key to a successful outcome. If the condition has gone undiagnosed for a prolonged period and the foal has been allowed to exercise freely, crushing of the cartilaginous precursors may have occurred, resulting in permanent deformation of adult bone. In this report, a series of case photographs demonstrate these observations, and treatment options are explored
