Process and device for the production of radiations

Description

The apparatus described includes: a device for producing a relativistic electron beam of not less than 3 MeV energy; a target plasma chamber containing a high density gas; a high Z substance located in the target plasma chamber; a device for ionizing the high density gas in order to produce a high density plasma; a device to trigger off convection oscillations in the plasma under the effect of applying the relativistic electron beam. The energy from the electron beam is deposited in the plasma to heat it up to temperatures corresponding to several kilovolts, the effect of which is to heat up the high Z substance and produce an intense source of radiation

L'appareillage decrit comprend: un dispositif pour la production d'un faisceau d'electrons relativiste ayant une energie d'au moins 3 MeV; une chambre de plasma cible contenant un gaz a densite elevee; une matiere a Z eleve situee dans la chambre de plasma cible; un dispositif pour l'ionisation du gaz a densite elevee pour produire un plasma a densite elevee; un dispositif qui declenche des oscillations de convection dans le plasma sous l'effet de l'application du faisceau d'electrons relativiste. L'energie du faisceau d'electrons est deposee dans le plasma pour chauffer celui-ci a des temperatures correspondant a plusieurs kilovolts, ce qui a pour effet de chauffer la matiere a Z eleve, et produit une source intense de rayonnement
