Inferring mean electric currents in unresolved fibril magnetic fields

Description

It is shown that the curl of the transverse magnetogram of magnetic fields composed of unresolved separate fibrils bears no direct relation to the mean longitudinal electric current density. The mean current density is essentially zero, regardless of the spatial variation and torsion of the mean field. copyright 1996 The American Astronomical Society
