Mechanical properties of dilute solid solutions on nickel base

Description

Investigated was the yield limit Σsub(0.2) of alloys based on nickel and doped with Cu, Mn, Ti, Nb, Si, Al in amounts of 1-8 at. %. Specimens were subjected to tensile tests on the ''Instron'' machine. The parameters of the Hall-Petg equation were calculated by the d of least squares metho using a computer. The effect of the alloying upon nickel lattice parameters was inVestigated by the X-ray method. It was shown the alloying of nickel by soluble additions strengthens it mainly in a direct relation to the elastic distortions about the dissolved atoms. The highest strengthening is obtained with niobium, and the least, with copper. It is noted that silicon strengthens nickel substantially against weak elastic distortions. Considered is the part played by the texture in the strengthening mechanism
