Environmental contamination with tritium produced by the first Czechoslovak nuclear power plant

Description
Tritium prevailingly occurs in the heavy water circuits in the heavy water reactor of the first Czechoslovak atomic power plant. From there it gets into the cooling waters and into the water flows. A smaller amount of tritium can be found in the cooling circuit, from where it leaks into the atmosphere, together with the coolant. Observations of the tritium content in the atmosphere and in the waters of the river Dudvah and Vah and of some wells in the vicinity of the power plant serve to assess the contamination of the environment by tritium due to the power plant. Compared with the maximum permissible intake by the population, the increase in tritium concentration is of little significance
