Energy transfer in the gamma radiolysis of ammonia-noble gas mixtures
Description
The radioanalyses of gaseous ammonia, sensitized by noble gases has been investigated. The radiation yield of hydrogen and nitrogen has been determined by gas-chromatographic method. It was found that the radiation efficiency Gsup(S)(N2) and Gsup(S)(H2) depend upon the kind of noble gas used in the NH3/R system studied, but does not depend on the concentration of ammonia in the mixture. A possible mechanism of energy transfer has been proposed for the explanation of the results. Irradiations were performed with the gamma source at the Institute of Radiation Technique (Lodz) at a dose rate (1.5-3.5)x1019 eV/g.h. (T.I.)
