Description
KN(Korea Nuclear)-18 has been designed to contain 18 PWR spent fuel assemblies. The cask shall be designed with natural heat removal from fuel assemblies. Design spent fuel is PLUS7, and maximum heat rate per cask is 19.1kW. The fuel assemblies in the cask can be transferred by both of wet and dry conditions. The cask is designed that maximum temperatures of fuel cladding is below 400 .deg. which is recommended in ISG-11 by NRC. It should be also confirmed that temperature of other components in cask are below limited values. In this paper, the results of thermal evaluation show the temperatures of fuel cladding, cask surface and components important to safety are below regulation limits
