Description

The Task Force on Nuclear Cleanup and Tritium Production has concluded that the open-quotes current (environmental) cleanup system is brokeclose quotes and that significant technical and administrative improvements are needed within the regulations to reduce excessive administrative and overhead costs and to base waste management decisions upon realistic risk and cost benefit information. This paper discusses the potential impact of a proposed RCRA rule on the costs and schedule of the present high level radioactive waste treatment and disposal programs at the Savannah River Site (SRS)
