Progress in sodium vapor charge exchange cell development
Description
Results are given of measurements made on a sodium vapor charge exchange cell in the recirculation mode for almost 100 h of cumulative full temperature operation. The design utilizes a down jet of sodium from a planar de Laval nozzle impinging upon a liquid sodium pool contained in a condensing reservoir. The apparatus includes provision for return of the sodium to the vaporizing region for replenishing the supply to the jet. The minimum design requirements for vapor thickness of 1 to 2 x 1015 atoms/cm2 were met
