Description

The organoclays are derived from bentonite clay treated with surfactant and have many industrial uses and in some cases, the degree of purification, represented by the absence of accessory minerals is essential. The use of the hydrocyclone can be an effective tool and affordable for purifying clays. This work aims to study clays bentonite purified by using a hydrocyclone, with the aim of organoclays for use in organic bases. The characterizations of the clay samples studied, Brasgel PA, were performed using the techniques: particle size analysis by laser diffraction, X-ray diffraction and chemical analysis by X-ray fluorescence, only to sample natural. We determined three configurations of the hydrocyclone. The best affinity was obtained with the medium and organic ester surfactant Preapagen WB organophilization. (author)
